5 things that made me happy, this week. #1

It’s Sunday. I usually don’t like Sunday’s at all, I never have really but I’ve made a pact with myself to start appreciating them a little bit more! I’ve been in a bit of a funk recently, not for any particular reason, I just haven’t been feeling fully myself. I had the urge to write again but couldn’t figure which format to do it in.

My blogging has always been so sporadic it’s a bit of a joke really, so I’m going to allow myself a bit of time on a Sunday to just chill, drink tea and think about 5 random things that have made me happy this week. May sound silly or cliche, however I’m hoping that it’ll get me out of this rut and hopefully help someone else to think about the positives of their week too, rather than the negatives!

1. Zion. I got to spend Friday & Saturday looking after my best friends little boy, who calls me Auntie and is literally the best little person in the world. He’s 5, he’s smart, he’s funny, he’s caring and loving and spending time with him and watching his innocence and loveliness really makes me happy. I see him a lot but one on one time with him this weekend really made a bit of a shit week, a lot better.

2. Homesense. I fucking love Homesense. If you haven’t been and you love to shop homeware stuff, it’s a must. I think it’s some kind of sister shop to TK MAXX. It’s basically got every homeware thing you could ever want, at cut prices and not everyone is going to have. I mean, I don’t know what more you could possibly want from a shop? I bought some absolute bargains last weekend and it made me happy. I’m not ashamed to say that pretty wooden coasters made me happy, alright?

3. Books. I’ve always been a big reader and never understood people who say they don’t read books. It’s so good for my brain to read a book instead of looking at a screen, scrolling aimlessly through pictures and shit tweets. I love getting lost in a book, in someone else’s world in the best way possible. The past few years I don’t think I’ve made enough time for reading as I should have, but this year I have read some sick books and I literally can’t stop. I love it. I’ve got 2 on the go at the moment. Lie with me by Sabine Durrant and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I’m always looking for book recommendations online, so help a sister out if you have any.

4. Evergreen - Yebba. Oooooh girl. THIS SONG gave me life this week. It came out last Friday and I’ve played it every day. Sam Smith released his album track lists a while back before the album came out and Yebba was the only feature on the album so I investigated, found her singing ‘My Mind’ on YouTube (which you also need to listen to because oh my god) and just fell in love. Evergreen just gave me something that I haven’t heard or loved in music for a while. I haven’t gigged or been in the studio for some time now and this song just stirred my love for vocals and singing and just seriously go and listen to it because I’m unable to write a correherant piece about this song because I’m too excited by it.

5. Gossip Girl. Yeah you fucking heard me. Gossip Girl. I started watching Gossip Girl when I was 14 and never finished it because when I was 14 Netflix was not a thing and we had to download shows from the US onto our dying non-Mac laptops whilst giving them a disease in the process, so I never finished Gossip Girl. I recently started watching it again on Netflix and I’m not going to bullshit you, some of it is pretty shit writing but the majority of it, I love. Blair and Chuck are the main reasons I love it, there’s something special about that storyline. I can’t quite believe I just wrote down that Gossip Girl made me happy this week out of all of the things I could have chosen but there we are. No spoilers, thanks.

Obviously, other things made me happy this week and a lot of other things made me feel a bit shitty. These were just a few and it even made me feel a bit more uplifted writing this so it can only be a positive thing, right.

xoxo, Gossip Girl.
